Georgian side promises to clarify situation with Armenian cargo  downtime within two days

ArmInfo.  The Georgian side has promised to provide clarifications regarding the situation involving  the delay of Armenian cargo at the Gezi terminal and to conduct a laboratory analysis of Armenian cognac products soon - specifically within a time frame of 10 minutes to 2 days. This information was reported to journalists by Gayane Poghosyan, an export specialist at the Proshyan Cognac Factory, following a meeting with the Georgian Ambassador to Armenia, Georgiy Sharvashidze.

Net profit of Armenia`s insurance sector reaches $2.1mln in 1st  quarter of 2025

ArmInfo. The net profit of the insurance sector of Armenia in the first quarter of 2025 increased by 82.3% per annum (against a 73% decline a year ago) and reached 807.2 million drams ($2.1 million). This was the result of a strong slowdown in the annual decline in premiums from 19% to 7% (20.9 billion drams or $53.4 million) and a reversal in the dynamics of compensation from a significant 43% growth towards a 0.2% decline (10.3 billion drams or $26.2 million). This is evidenced by the data of the Financial Rating of Insurance Companies of Armenia as of 31.03.2025, prepared by ArmInfo IC based on published financial reports and additional data requested from the insurance companies.

ArmInfo.  In Armenia's foreign trade, transactions involving precious metals and stones have seen a decline since 2025, totaling 21.6% ($967.6 million)  in the first quarter, compared to 66.1% ($6.5 billion) a year earlier. This category of goods has been the main factor contributing to the deterioration in the annual dynamics of the country's foreign trade turnover, which dropped from 212% growth to a 54.2% decline. According to the RA Statistical Committee, in the first quarter of 2025, the share of imports and exports of precious metals and stones in the total trade turnover decreased to 15.7% and 31.3%,  respectively, compared to 59.4% and 74.2% in the same period last year.

Apartment prices in Yerevan rose by 1.5% in a year, with a  corresponding 8.7%  increase in transactions

Armenia`s state debt  reached $13.6 billion, with specific debt  burden per capita exceeding $4.4 thousand

ArmInfo. In Armenia, the per capita debt burden exceeded $4.4 thousand by April 1, 2025 (compared to $4 thousand a year earlier), showing a growth rate of 10%.  Moreover, the per capita debt burden from external debt increased from $2.1 thousand to $2.3 thousand (a 9.5% increase), and from  internal debt it rose from $1.9 thousand to $2.1 thousand (a 10.5% increase). This increase occurred as the population growth in Armenia slowed down over the year by 1.4% or  41.4 thousand people, reaching 3.081 million people by April 1, 2025. In comparison, the previous year saw a lower growth rate in the per capita debt burden of 8%, accompanied by a more significant population growth of 3.4% or 98.2 thousand people. 

Armenia`s Ministry of Economy submits investments bill to public

As stated in the explanatory note to the document, the investment policy is currently implemented on the basis of outdated and partially applied legal acts, in particular, the Law "On Foreign Investments" adopted in 1994, and does not ensure full regulation of the investment process in accordance with modern requirements.

ArmInfo.  May 5 to 8, 2025, in Armenia's interbank foreign exchange market, USD transactions showed a decline, while RUB ones showed a growth, with no EUR transactions  effected for two months. RUB transactions showed a 64.3% growth against a 22.2% decline the previous week USD transactions showed a 38.2% decline.. The total amount of RUB transactions exceeded that of USD transactions 1.3-fold, whereas the total volume of USD transactions exceeded that of RUB ones 2- fold.
