ArmInfo. Beata Javorcik, Chief Economist at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development  (EBRD), clarified what caused the "optimism" of the EBRD, which in  its latest report forecasted a 6.2% growth of the Armenian economy,  answering a question from an ArmInfo correspondent. 

ArmInfo. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is providing a US$ 10 million  financial package to ArmSwissBank in Armenia to finance the private  sector's investments in growth, competitiveness, and greener and more  sustainable practices, the Bank's press service reports.

ArmInfo.  Armenia's suspension of funding to the CSTO is not a tragedy; Yerevan is not leaving the  organization. This was stated by Deputy Foreign Minister of the  Russian Federation Alexander Pankin during a session within the  framework of the international economic forumentiteled "Russia -  Islamic World: KazanForum".

In recent years, the economy of the Republic of Armenia has recorded  a great growth. Since the non-violent Velvet Revolution of 2018, the Armenian economy has grown by almost 30%, state budget revenues have increased by more than 91%, and about 200 thousand jobs have been opened, which means an increase in the total number of jobs by about 37%.

ArmInfo.During the 33rd annual meeting and business forum of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Ardshinbank CJSC and the Dutch entrepreneurial development bank FMO signed a Guarantee Agreement for a credit portfolio worth 20 million US dollars with a term of 7 years.

ArmInfo. As part of an earlier meeting between Head of Food Safety Inspectorate of Armenia, Armen  Hayrapetyan, and Sergei Dankvert,  Head of the Federal Agency for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision of Russia, a significant increase in the supply of fruits and vegetables from the Republic of  Armenia to the Russian Federation was recorded.

ArmInfo. Over the past ten years, the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) has transformed into an  important and promising integration association in the international space.  Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Armenia Bolat Imanbayev stated  at the tenth anniversary annual meeting of the Eurasian Expert Club  entitled "Armenia in the EAEU: realities and prospects of Eurasian economic integration."

On the sidelines of this meeting, an ArmInfo correspondent spoke with Mr. Arvanitis about the priorities and possible risks of the Armenian economy.

ArmInfo. 75% of Armenia's exports in Q1 of 2024, were precious and semi-precious stones and metals. An  increase in gold re-exports has been observed since November 2023.  This circumstance contains great risks, because economic growth is currently exogenous, and in the event of a change in any of the  external incentives, as well as a significant decrease in gold re-exports, the Armenian economy will become vulnerable. A similar assessment was made by Associate Professor of the Armenian State University of Economics, economist Aghasi Tavadyan.

ArmInfo. Analyzing data on Armenian state budget revenues for the first quarter of 2024, head of the  ACSES Analytical Center Haykaz Fanyan suggests thinking about increasing the tax burden on jewelry market participants.

ArmInfo.Trade in the Caucasus and Central Asia region could triple and distances could be cut by  half or even a third if certain changes are made, which requires political will. Mr. Alkis  Drakinos , Director, Regional Head of the Caucasus for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development  (EBRD), stated on May 10, during an event held in Yerevan within the framework of  the IMF "Perspectives of Regional Economic Development" report.

ArmInfo. The short-term windfall impacts of human and  financial relocations on the Armenian economy should be expanded and  sustained, giving it a sustainable effect. This opinion was expressed  by Rector of the Russian-Armenian University (RAU), doctor of  Economic Sciences of the Republic of Armenia and the Russian  Federation, Professor Edward Sandoyan, speaking at the International  Scientific Conference at RAU recently.

ArmInfo.After two and a half years of recovery and sharp growth in Armenia, a decrease in exports and  imports of almost all services has been recorded since Q4 2023.  This is fraught with losses in terms of the country's balance of payments and ensuring the budgeted 7% GDP growth. Economist Aghasi Tavadyan,  associate professor of the State University of Economics of Armenia, came to this opinion after analyzing the quarterly data of the RA balance of payments.
