ArmInfo. Minister of  Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources of the Republic of  Armenia Ashot Manukyan presented to IAEA Director General Yukio Amano  the process of implementing the program for extending the lifetime of  the second power unit of the Armenian Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) at  the 61st General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency  (IAEA) on September 18-22 in Vienna power plants.

ArmInfo. From August 24 to September 8, 2017, at the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant, a group of international experts underwent peer reviews. Experts are involved by the Moscow Center of the World Association of Organizations Operating Nuclear Power Plants (WANO).

ArmInfo.  The main goal of the  campaign launched by Azerbaijan to close the Armenian nuclear power  plant is the destruction of the Armenian statehood. A well- known  Armenian analyst Sergey Shakaryants follows this point of view.  In  conversation with ArmInfo  reportes the analyst stressed that it is  behind the task of destroying Armenian statehood that the propaganda  hype spread by official Baku lies. But the point is, Shakaryants  continued, that this hype is massively supported by Turkey, and,  strange as it may seem, the European Union. Four years ago, an EU  representative visited Armenia, who offered 200 million euros for the  closure of the Armenian nuclear power plant. Moreover, the EU is  ready to finance the dismantling of the station, but it is not ready  to give a cent to replace the capacity with the ANPP. "The funds our  so-called European partners give only for the dismantling and  conservation of the ANPP, offering nothing in return," the analyst  said, pointing out in this connection a whole series of scandals  related to the bribery of a number of European parliamentarians by  Azerbaijan.

ArmInfo. In November of this  year, will start first supplies of equipment necessary for the  implementation of the program to extend the life of power unit N2 of  Armenian nuclear power plant. This was reported by Head of Energy  Department of Armenian Ministry of Energy Infrastructures and Natural  Resources Hayk Badalyan, whose words are quoted by the press service  of the ministry.

ArmInfo. The implementation of the program to extend the life of the second power unit of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant is one of the most important projects in Armenia, which can be put on a par with such major infrastructure projects as the construction of the North-South road and the creation of the Russia-Georgia-Armenia-Iran energy corridor. All these projects are aimed at a significant economic strengthening of the country, which would be impossible without strengthening economic security, as well as its most important component , which is the energy security.

ArmInfo. It is more expedient to implement nuclear projects of Armenia with Russia due to the high level of  development in this sector and availability of traditional partnership relations. Such an opinion was stated by Aram Safaryan, the coordinator of Eurasian expert club and the head of Integration and Development Public organization.
