ArmInfo. The second stage of  implementation of program on extending life of Armenian NPP is to  start in May 2017. This was announced during April 4 meeting in the  Ministry of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources of the  Republic of Armenia. According to the press service of the Ministry,  during the meeting the first stage of implementation was discussed  and also the preparation to the second stage. Instructions, received  during last meeting were presented. 

ArmInfo. Armenian Nuclear Power  Plant plays an important role in socio-economic and political life of  the Republic, stated Gagik Makaryan, Chairman of the Republican Union  of employers.  According to him, the plant together with hydropower  objects has essential affect on keeping the price balance for  electric power, which affects positively both the development of  economy of the country, and the social situation of the citizens in  the country. Besides, the existence of Nuclear Power Plant is the  supporting factor for our aggressive neighbors. Pointing the  consummation of the resource of exploitation of the plant, the expert  stressed the importance of the implementation of the 2nd Unit  lifetime extension project, producing from 30 to 40 percents of all  the energy power producing in Armenia.

ArmInfo. Russia is Armenia's leading economic partner, last year bilateral trade turnover increased by 6%. Vladimir Putin stated this on March 15 during a press conference following the meeting with Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan.

ArmInfo. This March is the 3rd year from moment the Armenian Government took decision to modernize the 2nd unit of the NPP. The project for extending the exploitation of the unit No. 2 is being implemented by the subsidiary of the State Corporation "Rosatom" JSC "Rusatom Service".

ArmInfo. In 2017 the works  on implementation of the NPP 2nd energy unit lifetime extension  project will be continued.  According to Artem  Petrosyan the Head of  Nuclear Energy Department of Armenia Ministry of Energy  Infrastructures and Natural Resources, it is planned  for this year  to implement design works on general equipment, systems and buildings   replacement, on justification for remaining equipment recording, on  radioactive safety level improvement. As the result,   the second  unit general equipment  modernization project will be developed, and  justification prepared  regarding operation of equipment which is not  subject to replace.

ArmInfo.Dmitri Medvedev, the Prime  Minister of Russia, signed a resolution on holding negotiations due  to the  protocol concluded between Rosatom and Armenian Entities on  implementation of liabilities in the aspect of nuclear safety. The  corresponding document is published at the official website  of legal  information. 

ArmInfo. In 2016, in  Armenia energy saving technologies implementation sharply increased. 

ArmInfo. IAEA  nuclear  safety group experts completed the estimation of  Armenian NPP  operational safety. According to the information of organization, the  group of experts comprising specialists from Argentina, Bulgaria,  Canada, India, Ukraine and IAEA, has estimated the ANPP structure, as  well as long-term operation related projects, including human  resources and management. Experts mentioned several pluses in NPP  work. Among those pluses is the Seismic safety estimation and safety  modernization, the report reads. For instance, an approach should be  developed and implemented at NPP, according to which all the safety  related systems should be estimated from the point of view of their  long term operation. The NPP management stated the willingness to  follow al the recommendations and asked IAEA to plan the second  mission approximately after 18 months. The report will be put under  review at IAEA head office, and the final report wil ber submitted  within three months.
