ArmInfo. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is more conservative in its forecasts.  This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Finance of Armenia Armen  Hayrapetyan, referring to the discrepancy between the IMF forecasts  for GDP growth and the expectations of the RA government.  According  to the deputy minister, the IMF, aware of its responsibility to the  international community, takes a low-key approach.  Meanwhile, the  financial authorities of Armenia are more optimistic, because they  understand what efforts can be made to achieve the planned growth.

Acting minister: Construction in Yerevan of a new thermal block will  begin in 15 days

Construction on the  new thermal block adjacent to the Yerevan Thermal Power Plant with a  combined steam-gas cycle will begin in 15 days.  This was stated on  March 4 at a press conference in Yerevan by the acting. Minister of  Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources of the Republic of  Armenia Garegin Baghramyan.  According to him, today, on March 4, a  direct agreement was signed on financing the project, which  predetermined the sources of financing.The program on a temporary  basis will involve 1,100 people, on an ongoing basis - 230.  Construction work will last 24-25months. By the same date, a new  400-kilovolt transmission line Iran-Armenia will be put into  operation, according to which it will be possible to export  electricity from the station.

The economic activity index returned to growth in October (by 3.0% y-o-y) after decreasing by 0.2% a month earlier. ArmInfo.The World Bank has updated the outlook for Armenia's foreign trade in 2018, accelerating import growth to 16.9% and slowing export growth to 9.1%, from  previously projected 10.3% and 10.1%, respectively.
