Armenia will send $ 5.4 million to maintain its quota in the World Bank, the relevant decision was adopted at a meeting of the RA Government on April 11.   Presenting the draft decision, Atom Janjughazyan, RA Minister of  Finance, noted that at the end of last year, the Bank, through its  structures- International Bank for Reconstruction and Development,  International Development Association, International Finance  Corporation, the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency and the  International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes-  carried out an additional issue of their shares.

Total foreign investment in the Armenian economy slows growth against  the background of accelerated FDI decline

ArmInfo. The volume of total foreign investment in the real sector of the economy of Armenia grew in 2018 by 7.9%, reaching $ 2.5 billion, while the year before growth  was higher - 14.8%. In their structure, the volume of FDI declined in  2018. by 11.2%, amounting to $ 607.7 million, against a more modest  decline of 4.7% in 2017.

ArmInfo. The unemployment rate in Armenia, calculated using the new methodology, decreased in 2018 to 20.4% of the average y-o-y from 20.8% in 2017. And in the  calculation according to the old method, a decrease in the  unemployment rate for 2018 to 16.3% of the average y-o-y was recorded  from 17.8% in 2017. According to the RA Statistical Committee, the  new calculation method does not take into account those employed in  the household.

According to  preliminary data of the National Statistical Service of the Republic  of Armenia, the annual growth was provoked to a greater extent by the  construction sector and the services sector. Only in February 2019,  economic activity increased by 9.3%, and compared with February 2018  - by 7.6%, against last year's rising 7.2% in February and 7.3%  compared to February 2017.
