ArmInfo.Active work is underway in Armenia to create a system for disclosing the real owners of mining enterprises. RA Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan stated  this during a meeting of the multi-beneficiary group of the  Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI).

ArmInfo.On July 1, 2019, the law will take effect at identifying the real beneficiaries of field of mineral resource use and extraction of commercial minerals. This was  stated by the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan at the  scientific conference "Basic Guidelines of the Economic Revolution in  Armenia" on May 21 in Yerevan.

ArmInfo. And about.  Minister  of Energy and Natural Resources of Armenia Garegin Baghramyan  discussed the details of the investment program for the development  of the Kapan mining and processing plant with Artem Volynets,  Director General of the gold mining company Chaarat Gold.  The  meeting was also attended by David Kovmasyan, General Director of  Kapansky GOK.

ArmInfo. Mining companies of Armenia are obliged to indicate the names of all owners of these companies. The amendments to the Subsoil Code and the package of  related laws were approved at the February 21 sitting of the RA  Government.  

ArmInfo. Mining companies have  the will to introduce the Extractive Industries Transparency  Initiative (EITI) standards. Senior Mining Specialist of the World  Bank (WB) Kirsten Hund expressed this opinion, answering the question  of ArmInfo, on January 30 in the framework of the conference  dedicated to the first national report of the republic on EITI.

Armenia submitted  to the public the first national report on the initiative of the  transparency of the mining industry (EITI - Extractive Industries  Transparency Initiative), which is a mandatory requirement of the  EITI "roadmap" from the moment when the country received the status  of candidate Initiative.

ArmInfo.The mining industry in Armenia today has faced many problems, and participation in the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) will solve many  issues, Acting Deputy Minister of Energy Infrastructures and Natural  Resources of Armenia Vardan Gevorgyan told ArmInfo correspondent on  December 5, on the sidelines of a meeting of the multilateral group  on the implementation of EITI standards in the country.

ArmInfo.The amount of royalties paid by mining companies is determined by the legislation of the country and is not based on contractual obligations. ArmInfo. We met  Vitaliy Nesis, Chief Executive Officer of Polymetal, one of the leading precious metals mining companies in the post-Soviet space, for an interview in the resort town of Jermuk, where the 2nd stage of the Junior Grand Prix tournament of the European Chess Championship union was held during the period of  October 3 - October 16, under the sponsorship of the company.  The company of Polymetal was founded in 1998 and during  19 years has taken a sustainable   position in the geological exploration, design, construction and commissioning of mining enterprises, carrying out the full range of work on the development of ore deposits - from exploration to operation. In 2015, Polymetal acquired its first asset in Armenia - Lichkvaz CJSC,  with the right of subsoil use in respect  to the gold deposit of Lichkvaz-Tey. In April 2016, the company also acquired   Kapan Mining and Processing Plant from  Canadians,  which is operated for  processing  the Shahumyan  deposit ore. Only this year, the volume of investments of  Polymetal made in the modernization and expansion of production will form  $ 15 million. 

ArmInfo. The volumes of  counterfeiting and smuggling continue to amount to billions of  dollars, significantly limiting the opportunities for developing fair  business of our countries. This was stated by the Minister of  Industry and Trade of Russia Denis Manturov during the opening of the  second International Forum of Eurasian Partnership on October 6 in  Yerevan.
