The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and ARMSWISSBANK have signed two new loan agreements totalling USD 8 million under the SME Competitiveness Programme in Eastern Partnership that is supported by  the European Union (EU) ("SME Competitiveness Programme") and Green  Economy Financing Facility in Armenia Phase ll Energy Efficiency  Program ("GEFF in Armenia") supported by the Green Climate Fund  (GCF).

In H1, 2021 Armenian banks transferred to the state treasury USD 60.6  million taxes with a 19.4% y-o-y growth

ArmInfo.In the first half of 2021, the banking system of Armenia sent over 30 billion drams or $ 60.6 million to the state treasury through taxes, which is 19.4% more  than a year ago. Of this amount, over 85.9% or 25.8 billion drams was  paid under direct taxes (including income tax and tax on profit),  with an increase of 13.4% over the year. According to the data of the  RA State Revenue Committee, in the total volume of payments of 1000  large taxpayers in Armenia, 17 banks account for 5.1%.

ArmInfo. By April 1, 2021, there were over 2.5 million cards in the plastic market of Armenia, with a slowdown in y-o-y growth to 3.5% from 20.8% in the same period of  2020. And most of them are debit and payment cards - 50.5% and 40.2%,  respectively, and credit accounts for only 9.3%, but annual growth is  observed in debit cards (by 13%), while settlement and credit in  decline (by 4.7-4%). This is evidenced by the data of the RA Central  Bank.

Armswissbank will resume issue of euro bonds on September 22

ArmInfo.On September 22 Armswissbank will resume an additional issue of registered coupon euro bonds in the amount of 5 million euros. As the press service of  the bank explained, this issue is provided in the program prospectus  of the issue, registered by the Central Bank of Armenia on May 15  this year. The initial placement of this tranche will start on  September 22, and it is planned to complete it on October 22.

ArmInfo.Armswissbank is planning a gradual placement of a large tranche of inscribed AMD coupon bonds totaling 25 billion in autumn. As the press service of the bank explained to ArmInfo, the bank's management is currently  considering the probable date of the placement and the volume of the  first tranche of this issue. The specific date and the proposed  initial volume will be announced later as soon as the bank's  management makes a specific decision.

In Armenia, the share of non-cash card transactions remained at the  level of 30% by July 2020

ArmInfo. In Armenia, the share of  non-cash card transactions remained at the level of 30% in the total  volume of plastic transactions by July 1, 2020. But the y-o-y growth  in the volume of non-cash card transactions slowed down from last  year's 48% to the current 38%, amounting by the results of the first  half of this year to 351 billion drams ($ 728 million). The  preservation of the share, despite the slowdown in volumes, is due to  the activity of Internet commerce, the popularization of mobile and  web applications by banks and Armenian Card, and such effective  measures to encourage non-cash transactions as CashBack. According to  the data of the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia, five years  earlier (H1 of 2015), the share of non-cash transactions in the total  volume of plastic transactions was 12%, and by July 1, 2019 it had  reached 24%.

ArmInfo. In the H1 of 2020, the  banking system of Armenia allocated 26.7 billion drams or $ 55.4  million to the state treasury through taxes, which is 9.2% lower than  the indicator a year ago. Of this amount, over 86.5% or 23.1 billion  drams was paid under direct taxes (including income tax and tax on  profits), with a y-o-y  decline of 17.5%. According to the data of  the RA State Revenue Committee, in the total volume of payments of  1000 large taxpayers in Armenia, the share of 17 banks is 5.4%.

Fast Credit Capital UCO will start placement of its dram and dollar  bonds on July 9

EBRD awards Armswissbank TFP Awards as the most active issuing bank  in Armenia for the second year in a row

European Bank for  Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for the second year in a row,  this time following the results of 2019, names its trade finance  partner, Armswissbank, as the most active issuing bank in Armenia. As  the Bank's press service told ArmInfo, the TFP Awards ceremony, which  was to be held at the annual meeting and the EBRD business forum in  May 2020, had to be canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but the  list of winners is presented on the EBRD published on June 4. The  winners of the honorary award were 27 banks, along with Armswissbank  TBC (Georgia), Belinvestbank (Belarus) and JSC Bank Centercredit  (Kazakhstan) are also on the list.

ArmInfo.Armswissbank successfully placed the third tranche of its AMD registered coupon bonds. As the press service of the bank told ArmInfo, the bonds of this issue  (AMSWISB2CER2) were placed at the Stock Exchange of Armenia as a  result of which the bonds with a nominal value of AMD 9,700 bln were  fully placed, demand exceeded supply by almost 14%.

Assets of Armenian banking system approach $ 12 billion

The assets of the banking system of Armenia slowed down annual growth from 16.1% to 15.3%, amounting to 5.9 trillion drams ($ 11.7 billion) as of April 1, 2020.  According to the Express-Ranking of Banks of Armenia, prepared by ArmInfo IC, in their structure credit investments and other loans  reached 3.8 trillion drams ($ 7.5 billion), with annual growth  accelerating from 16.2% to 20.4%.
