ArmInfo.The Ambassador of the European Union to Armenia and the leadership of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant (ANPP) discussed the possibilities of expanding  cooperation within the framework of projects to ensure a high level  of responsible and safe management of spent fuel and radioactive  waste within the CEPA framework. This became known following the  working visit of the EU Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary  to Armenia Andrea Wiktorin to the Metsamor NPP.

ArmInfo. The strategic program for the development of the energy sector of Armenia until 2040 provides for a repeated extension of the life of the Armenian nuclear  power plant after 2026, and in the future, the construction of a new  nuclear power plant.

ArmInfo. Electricity generation in Armenia in January- December 2020 amounted to 7,723.4 million kWh, with y-o-y growth of 1.2% (against a decline of 1.9% a  year earlier). In December alone, electricity generation increased by  15.9% to 732.9 mln/kWh.

ArmInfo. The activities on assembling the facility for recovery annealing of the ANPP Unit 2 reactor vessel metal have been completed.  These activities were  performed by the specialists of the Novovoronezhatomenergoremont  company of the Russian Federation.    

ArmInfo.On November 5, 1995, the second power unit of the Armenian NPP was restarted after an idle period of six and a half years. The decision to restart the  Armenian nuclear power plant helped Armenia to cope with the economic  crisis of the 90s, when the country, among other serious problems,  experienced an acute shortage of electricity.

ArmInfo.The interim results of the work carried out in 2020 under the Life Extension  Program of the second power unit of the Armenian NPP, and the work  plan for the modernization of equipment and systems for 2021 became  the subject of a video conference meeting held the day before.  According to the press service of the Armenian NPP, Acting Director  General of ANPP Eduard Martirosyan and Director General of Rusatom  Service Yevgeny Salkov made an introductory speech.

ArmInfo. The ANPP Unit 2 turbine generators ь3 and 4 after the outage of 2020 (Outage-2020) were started and on 23 August at 13:30 the ANPP was connected to the  national grid of Armenia, the official website of the ANPP reports.

ArmInfo. The Armenian Nuclear  Power Plant will be provided with a budget loan of 63.2 billion drams  (about $ 130 million). The decision on this was made at a meeting of  the RA government on June 11.

ArmInfo.The shutdown dates for preventive maintenance of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant have been rescheduled. This was stated by the Chairman of the Nuclear Safety Committee of the Republic of Armenia Ashot Martirosyan in an interview with ArmInfo correspondent.

ArmInfo.At this stage, there is no issue on the agenda for increasing the tariff for electricity generated at the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant (ANPP). This was  announced on May 7 by the Minister of Territorial Administration and  Infrastructures of the Republic of Armenia Suren Papikyan, answering  the question of the National Assembly lawmaker Arman Babajanyan about  a possible increase in electricity tariffs by 4 drams.

ArmInfo.Given the current situation in Armenia related to the spread of coronavirus, the leadership of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant is taking all possible  measures to implement the unhindered operation of the nuclear power  plant and monitor the health status of employees. In the current  situation, a headquarters was created at the ANPP, which implements  measures aimed at preventing the spread of the virus.
