ArmInfo. The share of retail insurance in the portfolios of premiums of Armenian insurers in the first half of 2019 amounted to 44.1% (11.6 billion drams), corporate  - 55.9% (14.7 billion drams), against almost similar figures a year  earlier - 44.7% and 55.3%, respectively. According to the data of the  Financial Rating of insurance companies of Armenia, prepared by  ArmInfo Investment Company, the retail insurance market capacity  accelerated annual growth to 18.1% from 6% in the first half of 2018,  along with which the growth of corporate insurance slowed  significantly from 58.2% to I half of 2018

Following the results of the Q1 of 2019, the insurance sector of Armenia paid taxes of 633.9 million drams ($ 1.3 million), which is 11.8% more than a year  ago.  Of this amount, 86% or 542.3 million drams were paid on direct  taxes (including income tax and profits tax). According to the RA  State Revenue Committee, all 6 insurance companies operating in the  market were included in the list of the top 1000 taxpayers of Armenia  during the reporting period.

The Armenian insurers in the Q1of 2019 reimbursed 5.96 billion drams or $ 12.3 million in different classes (figures are given from the reports of IC  portfolios by the standards of the Central Bank of Armenia). In y-o-y  terms, reimbursement of insurers increased by 4.3%, against growth of  36.9% a year earlier.

The premiums of Armenian insurance companies increased by 17.6% per annum in the first quarter of 2019, with a rise in refunds of 11.9%, while the year before the rates were higher - 47.9% and 26% respectively. In the first quarter  of 2019 alone, premiums increased by 59.8%, with a drop in payments  of 6.8%, against premium growth of 36.1% and a fall in refunds of  22.2% in the first quarter of 2018. By April 1, 2019, the cumulative  amount of insurance premiums was 16.3 billion drams, and the amount  of insurance claims was 6.1 billion drams (figures are from IC  reports on IFRS standards).

The loss ratio  of compulsory motor third party liability insurance (CMTPL) in Armenia increased on average from 62.9% in the first quarter of 2018 to 64.5%  in the first quarter of 2019 (without deduction of reserves), and  according to the Bureau of Auto Insurers - from 71.1% to 73.7% (after  deduction of reserves).

In 2018, the Armenian  insurers reimbursed 22.8 billion drams or $ 47.1 million in different  classes (figures are from IC portfolio portfolios according to the  standards of the Central Bank of Armenia). During the reporting year,  reimbursement of insurers increased by 28.4%, against 24.9% growth  for 2017. At the same time, the insurance premiums of the Armenian  insurance companies recorded an y-o-y growth of 17.4% - up to 41.02  billion drams or $ 84.8 million, against 6.2% growth for 2017.

ArmInfo. In the insurance market of Armenia, the growth of premiums for 2018 has accelerated, but so far it is inferior to the growth of payments - 17.6% against  25.3%, the same trend was observed in 2017 with more significant gap  - 5.7% against 30.4%.

Financial rating  of ArmInfo: Total net profit of insurance companies  of Armenia continues to sink

ArmInfo. The total net profit  of insurance companies of Armenia for 2018 declined by 67.6% (against  a decline of 58% in 2017), making 226.3 million drams or $ 0.5  million the growth of insurance claims from 24.9% to 28.4%, with a  moderate rise in insurance premiums - by 17.4% against 6.2% a year  earlier. On an annualized basis (2018 by 2017), a decrease in profits  was observed in five insurance companies, two of which reduced the  positive indicator by 6.5-54%, and three were at a loss, and one of  them moved down from the positive level, and only Nairi Insurance has  managed to increase profits.

ArmInfo. In Armenia, with the  process of phased introduction of compulsory health insurance the  loss ratio in the general class of medical insurance increased in  2018 on average in the market to 67%, against 55.8% in 2017.

Armenian Motor Insurers` Bureau: The loss ratio for MTPL increased in  2018 from 65% to 72.5%

ArmInfo.The MTPL unprofitability ratio increased in 2018 from 65% to 72.5%. This is  evidenced by the data of the Armenian Motor Insurers' Bureau.   According to the Bureau, as of January 1, 2019, there are 508297  vehicles in Armenia with MTPL contract, with a y-o-y increase of  10459 units or 2.1%, against an increase of a year ago by 29710 units  or 6.4%. Of the total number of vehicles with MTPL-contract, 25.23%  covers Rosgosstrakh Armenia, 23.44% - Nairi Insurance, 22.34% - INGO  Armenia, 12.29% - Sil Insurance, 8.53% - Armenia Insurance and 8.17%  - RESO.

The premiums of Armenian insurance companies for the third quarter of 2018 improved the dynamics with a recovery of 5.8% from the 43.5% decline (against  1.8% growth in the third quarter of 2017), with a similar picture of  refunds - from a 7.3% decline by 26.7% growth (against 11.5% growth  in the third quarter of 2017).

As the press service of ROSGOSSTRAKH ARMENIA insurance company told ArmInfo, the company has introduced a system to detect signs of fraud, thanks to which a  significant number of attempts are suppressed at the stage of claims  settlement. Employees of the company are subjected to a thorough  analysis of all cases in which there are signs of fraud.

40 million $ invested in construction of first "A" "Kamar" green  business center in Armenia

ArmInfo.In the first half of 2018 as compared with the same period of 2017 Armenia's insurance companies registered a 30,6% growth in premiums amid 30,1% growth in  compensation. A year earlier premiums demonstrated only 4,7% growth  amid 30,5% growth of compensaitons. In Q2 alone, the dynamics of  premiums deteriorated to 43,5% decline versus 36,1% growth in Q1 amid  sharp slackening of compensations decline to 7,3% from 22,2% in Q1,  amid 22,8% decline and 10,2% decline in Q2 2017 respectively.
