ArmInfo. The company Lydian  Armenia, which started the program on exploitation of Amulsar gold  deposit, is ready to work openly and transparently according to the  traditions of American business. The US Ambassador Extraordinary and  Plenipotentiary to Armenia Richard Mills expressed such an opinion on  August 31 on the margins of the event timed to the presentation of  Lydian International's first annual report on sustainable  development.

ArmInfo. Lydian Armenia,  which launched the program to operate the Amoulsar gold mine, made a  presentation on August 31, presenting its first annual report on  sustainable development enterprises with the goal of restoring public  confidence in the mining industry. In a welcome speech the company's  general director Hayk Aloyan noted: "Today, the mining sector is  devoid of high confidence. And we intend to win it through an open  and transparent dialogue, responsibility and modernization."

ArmInfo. Amulsar gold-bearing quartzite deposit located 14km away from resort town of Jermuk is considered to have the largest gold reserves in Armenia. Geologists discovered the gold-bearing deposit yet in 2006. During the following ten years, they had studied the possibilities, pros and cons of starting operation activities.In 2014, the Government of Armenia granted Mining Right to Lydian Armenia CJSC. In 2015, the Project’s environmental and social impact assessment (ESIA) was approved. Despite that comprehensive,almost 6,000-page document, the company is constantly facing harsh criticism by environmental organizations who do not believe and some do not want to believe in successful implementation of Lydian’s biodiversity conservation measures.In an interview with ArmInfo, Armen Stepanyan, Lydian Armenia Sustainability Director speaks about possible environmental impacts of mine operation and mitigation measures planned. 

ArmInfo. From June 29 to July 8, the annual summer innovation camp "DigiCamp" and the technological camp "ArMat", organized by the Union of Information Technology Enterprises of Armenia, was held in Armenian Hanqavan. This year 8 children participated in them - students of the village of Kechut of the Vayozdzor region and the engineering laboratory of the educational complex of the resort town of Jermuk. The engineering laboratories were founded with the assistance of Lydian Armenia in the spring of 2017, and under the program, 8 students from the newly created laboratories participated in the summer camp Zepyur in hanqavan.

ArmInfo. The investments of the Lydian Armenia Company in the Amulsar deposit and the Contour Global Company in the Vorotan cascade of HPPs are the largest investments in the Armenian economy. The US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia Richard Mills stated this.

ArmInfo. The government of Armenia  released Lydian Armenia CJSC, which operates the Amulsar deposit,  from paying customs duties on imports of another batch of equipment  and raw materials.

ArmInfo. Minister of Economic  Development and Investments of Armenia Suren Karayan visited Teghut  copper-molybdenum mine belonging to the Vallex Group industrial  group. During the visit to the enterprise, the Minister got  acquainted with the works at the Teghut Mining Complex, as well as  with the forthcoming field development programs.

ArmInfo. The developing of Amulsar  golden deposit is one of the largest investment projects in Armenia. This was stated by  Hayk Aloyan, the General Executive  of Lydian Armenia to  Suren Karayan, the Minister of Economic Development and Investments of Armenia.

ArmInfo. At the session of  Armenian Metal Makers and Miner Union taken place on May 11, the  Chairman of the Union was elected Hayk Aloyan, the Chief Executive of  Lydian Armenia.

ArmInfo. "In our programs, all  investment programs and expectations are clearly spelled out," Prime  Minister of Armenia Karen Karapetyan said in an interview with  Austrian radio, referring to sources of the expected investment of $  3.2 billion. In particular, as Premier reminded, in the coming years  investments are planned for An amount of $ 3.2 billion from five main  sources: private business investment, loans, donor programs, the  state budget, regional budgets. "As early as 2017, we consider  realistic the implementation of projects for a total amount of $  830-840 million," he said.

ArmInfo. Lydian company?s formed consultative group, which works on Independent Advisory Panel monitoring of Amulsar, will gather 3 times a year, John Hacker, the Head of the group stated to ArmInfo during the discussions of the project on May 5, who visited Armenia for 3 days.

ArmInfo. In 2017 in Armenia big investments are expected in the mining sector of production.

ArmInfo. According to Lydian  Armenia Company's information, Lydian company's formed consultative  group will work on Independent Advisory Panel monitoring of Amulsar.

ArmInfo. The Government of Armenia delayed VAT payment for imported goods for three years for "Lydian Armenia", for the period from 14 April 2017 to 31 December 2018. The project was approved during the April 20 Governmental meeting.

ArmInfo. Within the Amulsar gold mine acquisition framework Lydian Armenia Company  secured jobs for about 450 persons, 230 of which are the neighboring communities residents, and the main part are the habitants of Gndevaz community.  This was stated by Hayk ALoyan, the Executive Director of Lydian Armenia, during his working trip to Vayotz Dzor district.

The Executive Director Of Lydian Armenia Hayk Aloyan stated this on April 12, within the framework of work visit to Vayots Dzor region.   

ArmInfo. Karen Karapetyan,  the  Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, insists to apply all the  authorities tools in respect to all law violations. This was stated  by him during  regular government session dedicated to Sevan national  park issues.  According to the information obtained by ArmInfo at the  press office of the Government, Artsvik Minasyan, the Nature   Protection Minister, and Vaghe Gulanyan, the Director of Sevan  National Park, reported the data on activity of Sevan National  Park,  presented administrative, economic, environmental, urban issues and  items related to land acquisition.

This opinion was voiced on March 24 by the member of the EITI multi-beneficiary group representing the public interest, and the head of the NGO EcoLur, Inga Zarafyan, referring to the possibilities in the framework of Armenia's accession to the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI).

ArmInfo. The company Lydian International at the annual World Mining Congress in Toronto (PDAC) in the Canadian city of Toronto on March 5-8 presented a project to develop the Amulsar mineral assets.
