Pegasus airline starts Istanbul-Yerevan-Istanbul flights

ArmInfo. The Pegasus airline has started Istanbul-Yerevan- Istanbul flights. The rights will be carried out on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays, the Armenia  International Airports CJSC reports.

WB GDP growth forecast unchanged for Armenia

ArmInfo.The World Bank has not changed its GDP growth forecast for Armenia for 2021-2022 - 6.1% down to 4.8%, with a further upward trend to 5.4%, according to the WB January 22 Global Economic Prospects. 

Economic activity up by 5.2% in Armenia in Jan-Nov 2021

ArmInfo.Last January-November saw 5.2% growth in economic activity in Armenia against 7.2% in the corresponding period 2020 and 7.5% in January-November 2019, along with two-digit growth in exports and imports. Much lower relevant  figures were recorded in the pre- COVID period, according to the  final data by the RA Statistical Committee.  

Inflation in Armenia in 2021 rises to 7.7% from 3.7% in 2020

5.3% GDP growth, 5.5% inflation in revised CBA forecast for 2021-2022

ArmInfo.According to a revised forecast by the Central Bank of Armenia (CBA) 5.3% GDP growth is expected next year against 4.2% growth this year, with a downward  trend to 4.4% and 3.6% respectively in 2023 and 2024 (against the  7.4% decline recorded in 2020 and 7.6% growth in 2019). 

Living standards higher in Armenia this year - minister

Revised CBA forecast: 4.2% GDP growth, 8.4% inflation

ArmInfo.According to the revised forecast for 2021 by the Central Bank of Armenia (CBA), 4.2% GDP growth is expected in Armenia against the previously forecast  5.4%, with inflation near 8.4% by the end of this year. According to  the revised CBA forecast, 5.3% GDP growth is expected next year, CBA  Chairman Martyn Galstyan told a news conference on Tuesday.

Armenia   s national debt over $9.2bln by Nov. 2021

In January-October 2021, Armenia`s national debt was up by 15.6% (against 9% in the corresponding period last year), with the10.7% moderate increase in  the external debt accompanied by a 31.1% increase in the domestic  debt. A similar situation was observed last year - a 30.5% increase  in the domestic debt, with a 3.2% increase in the foreign debt.  As a  result, by November 2021, Armenia`s national debt totaled $9.209bln  (AMD 4,400bln), with the country`s foreign debt totaling $6.707bln  and domestic debt, $2.502bln.  

Growth of Armenia`s foreign trade turnover significantly exceeds  pre-COVID rates

ArmInfo. Armenia's foreign trade turnover in January-October 2021 exceeded $ 6.5 billion, with an improvement in y-o-y dynamics to 13.6% growth (from an 11.4%  decline a year earlier), and with a tangible excess of the pre-COVID  6.5% growth rate.

Armenia`s economic activity recovers very slowly

9.6% annual inflation in Armenia in Nov. 2021

This January-November, 6% inflation was recorded in Armenia`s consumer market against 0.3% in the corresponding period last year, the cause being a 9.1% rise in prices for foodstuffs (including alcohol and cigarettes) and a 7.4%  rise in prices for nonfoods, with a 1.5% rise in prices for services.  Last January-November saw a 1% rise in prices for nonfoods, with a  0.9% reduction in prices for foodstuffs and a 1.4% rise in prices for  services recorded.

EDB Analyst: Armenia`s public debt level will remain above  pre-pandemic level until 2026

ArmInfo. The level of Armenia's public debt will remain above the pre-epidemic level until 2026. Chief economist of the  Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) and  Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development (EFSD) Evgeny  Vinokurov expressed this opinion in discussion with journalists on  the sidelines of the second Eurasian Congress in Moscow.
