ArmInfo. In the near future, the construction of an armaments production plant will be completed in Armenia. On January 17, Tigran Karapetyan, MP from the My Step faction, said from the rostrum of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.
According to him, the development of the military-industrial complex of the country should not be purely declarative. In Soviet times, the military-industrial complex in Armenia was developed, but over the past 30 years these positions have been lost. Nevertheless, the potential for the development of the MIC is enormous. The events of the past 11 months inspire optimism, especially after the velvet revolution. During this period, more than serious progress has already been recorded. But to use this potential requires legislative regulation. "Currently, there are problems in the field, most of which are related to legislative restrictions. Removing these restrictions will lead to a military-industrial revolution," said the MP, adding that agreements on 11 production and supply of weapons have already been concluded with 11 domestic companies. "In February of this year, Armenia with 37 names of military products will be presented at the arms exhibition in the United Arab Emirates for the first time, and I am sure that the Armenian delegation will return with the signed agreements," said Tigran Karapetyan.
The MP also touched sounding criticism of the government from the previous authorities. "We are already doing something about which you have imposed bans," the parliamentarian stressed, pointing out the economic efficient of the development of the military-industrial complex of the country, which should become a driving force for the development of mechanical engineering, electronics, and information technology. "The results of the future military-industrial revolution are already obvious," Tigran Karapetyan stressed.
