Unibank to issue and serve Visa chip cards in March 2011
ArmInfo. Unibank will issue and serve Visa chip cards in March 2011. As representative of Unibank, Mesrop Hakopyan, told ArmInfo, the Visa chip cards have higher level of protection.
He also added that by the chip card a customer will be able to get more services than using the magnetic cards. "Within the frames of our programme of loyalty, we shall offer to customers the card which will include several options and replace the credit as well as bonus and discount cards simultaneously", - he said and added that several accounts in different currencies will be attaches to one card.
Hakobyan pointed out that in 2011 the bank will increase the number of its cards to 200 thsd, POS- terminals – to 900, and ATMs – to 100. The banks is also going to launch its own processing and re-equip the ATMs, thereby giving an opportunity to the cardholders to change the PIN-code through the ATMs or receive an issue of the last ten operations.
