Active plastic cards market of Armenia up 27,4%
ArmInfo. In June 2011 Armenian banks emitted 19423 cards which is by 3,1% more versus June 2010. The total number of active cards by the end of June amounted to 642.9 thsd cards, whereas it was 504.7 thsd in June 2010, growth by 27,4%.
As Armenian Card reported, MasterCard is the leader in the structure of the active cards - by 52,7% - up 125,8 thd unites versus June 2010, then comes Visa card - by 42,9% - up to 181.2 thsd cards and ArCa - by 13,6% - up to 335,9 thsd.
In June of the current year the banks issued 9411 ArCa cards which is by 71,3% more than in june 2010, 3992 MasterCards, which is by 23,7% less and 6020 Visa cards, which is by 25,8% less than in June 2010.
Over the reported period operations were implementing using on average 435 thsd cards or 68% out of the total number of active cards (growth by 24,9% versus June 2010). As of 1 July 2011 the number of the POS-terminals of the Arca Card in the trade/service points and cash delivery (without ATMs) amounted to 3545 (growth by 47% versus June 2010), 323 - in the cash delivery points (growth by 22,3%), and 3222 - in trade points (growth by 50%). As of 1 July 2011 749 ATMs have been functioning in Armenia, the number of which grew by 20,4% versus the same period of 2010.
