Arminfo. The great majority of complaints to the office of financial ombudsman for 8 months of 2011 were regarding banks and insurance companies. According to the data of the Financial Ombudsman's office, 36 out of 80 complaints were against banks and another 36 - against insurance companies and OSAGO, 6 - against pawnshops and 2 - against credit companies.
17 out of 36 complaints against banks were regarding the calculate-credit service, 12 - regarding the credit deals, 4 - deposit deals and 3 - others. The total of 16 out of 36 complaints against insurance companies were regarding OSAGO, 8 - CASCO, 8 - medical insurance, 2 - tourist insurance and 2 - incident insurance.
The customers, the complaints of which were revised, were paid compensation at a total sum 29.8 mln drams, 12.6 mln of which was the share of insurance companies, 11.1 mln - credit companies, 5.9 mln - banks and 140 thsd - pawnshops.
The total of 524 application-complaints entered the office of the financial ombudsman in Jan-Aug 2011, 157 of which were not revised on the basis of the law "On ombudsman of financial system", and 368 - should be revised. The total of 80 of the complaints have been already revised, 68% of them were resolved in favor of the customer.
230 complaints were received by the Financial Ombudsman's office in the 1Q 2011, 213 of which against financial system. 153 of them had to be revised, 34 of which were presented in a written form: against banks - 15, against insurance companies - 14 and against pawnshops - 5. The great majority of complaints against banks - 11 were regarding the calculate-credit service, 1 - credit deal, 1 - deposit deal and 2 - others. 6 out of 14 complaints against the insurance companies was regarding medical insurance, 4 - CASCO, 2 -OSAGO, 1 - labor insurance and 1 incident insurance.
The total of 212 complaints enter Ombudsman's office in the 2Q 2011, 185 of which against the financial system. 114 of them had to be revised, 27 of which were already revised: 16 -against banks, 10 - against insurance companies and 1 - against a credit company. The major part of complaints against banks was regarding the credit bargains - 9 and calculate-credit service - 4, as well as deposit bargains - 2 and 1 - others. As for the complaints against insurance companies, 6 were on OSAGO and 4 - CASCO.
To note, services of the Financial Ombudsman, functioning in Armenia since 2009, are given free of charge, as financial organizations pay for his job.
