WB prediction: Economic growth by 3,8% expected in Armenia in 2012
Arminfo. According to the prediction of the World Bank, the economic growth by 3,8% is expected in Armenia in 2012, director of the WB Yerevan office Jean-Michel Happi told ArmInfo correspondent.
If to analyze the created situation like the main potential for the Armenian economy growth as well as the situation in the world context, our prediction of the economic growth of Armenia reduced from 4-5% to 3,8%, he said and added that next year they expect higher rates of the economy growth, as there are certain important branches, including agriculture, which promote certain growth of economy.
According to the prediction of IMF, in 2012 the GDP in Armenia will reduce from 4% to 3,8% because of slowing down of the economic growth in Europe. As for the inflation, the predictions of the IMF are based on reduction of external price pressure. For this reason, the expected inflation will be preserved within the frames of 4% target (+ / -1,5%). The economic growth by 4,2% and inflation by 4% (+ / -1,5%) were fixed in the state budget of Armenia for 2012. According to the prediction of Armenian Central Bank, the economic growth by 3-4,6% is expected for Jan-Sept 2012. This is mainly conditioned by expecting of slower resumption of the world demand and pessimistic mood of the economic entities regarding the economic situation in future. The inflation by the end of the 3Q 2012 will be 3-5,5%, Armenian Central Bank predicted.
