ArmInfo. The State Committee of Real Estate Cadastre of Armenia will receive a 1.75 mln USD grant from the Government of Norway for introduction of a network of GPS (Global Positioning System) reference stations in Armenia. This will allow drafting the specified navigation maps of the whole republic and its capital Yerevan by late 2014, Chairman of the State Committee Yervand Zakharyan said at today's press conference.
He said that the Armenian Government's financing will be as much as 10-15% of the specified grant. Under this project, Armenia will acquire and establish 12 GPS reference stations forming the country's Position Determination System (ARMPOS). The system will be connected to the European Position Determination System (EUPOS). The establishment of the stations will be completed by late 2013. The activity of the stations will be controlled by the center located in Yerevan.
The project will be implemented under a Norwegian grant project. The GPS reference stations are used in agriculture, road construction, transport, navigation, high precision engineering and many other spheres.
