ArmInfo. An exhibition dedicated to the history of national currency and monetary circulation will be held in Vanadzor, Lori Region, from September 23 to October 1. Central bank of Armenia (CBA) is the initiator of the exhibition, which is organized annually and is the eleventh this year. Armenak Darbinyan, member of the CBA Board, noted during the exhibition that it not only presents the visitors history of the national currency and monetary circulation but has an educational format as well.
Coins from various periods of Armenian history are presented at the exhibition. Among them copper coins depicting the Armenian king Tigranes II the Great, copper and silver coins of the Armenian Kingdom of Cilicia and bank notes released during 1898-1915 in Tsarist Russia, which were circulated in Armenia in that period of time, are also presented.
To note, such exhibitions have been held in Gyumri, Vanadzor, Stepanavan, Ijevan, Eghegnadzor, Gavar, Stepanakert, Armavir, Ashtarak, Artashat and Hrazdan. With the local Administrations' assistance the schoolchildren usually visit these exhibitions. Besides, excursions to the Central Bank of Armenia are organized for them.
