ArmInfo. The specialists of the Kolsk and Armenian NPPs exchanged their experience in enhancing the safety culture in the course of repair operations. The meeting was held during the visit organized by the World Association of Nuclear Operators on March 13-19. The only NPP in Armenia exploits the same reactors as at the Kolsk NPP - WWER-440, according to the Public Relations Department of Kolsk NPP.
Armen Arshakyan, the deputy head of the centralized repair division of the Armenian NPP, says, "I wondered how the equipment is upgraded. We have already decided what can be just as well be used at our plant: first of all, it can be the marking of the equipment. We like the activity management at the Kolsk NPP, especially the permit-to-work system. In the near future, we are going to introduce a similar system at our nuclear power plant," says Armen Arshakyan.
During the visit, the specialists of the Armenian NPP visited the recently built building of the training center for the maintenance staff.
The Armenian NPP was built in the territory of the Armenian SSR near the town of Metsamor. It was commissioned in December 1976. The Plant consists of two power units with WWER-440 reactors. The first power unit was decommissioned in 1989.
The Kolsk NPP is the subsidiary of Concern Rosenergoatom OJSC. The plant is located 200km south of Murmansk. It generates about 60% of electric power of Murmansk region. The plant exploits 4 power units with WWER reactors. The Kolsk NPP supplies electric power to Murmansk region and Karelia.
