The Minister of Economy of RA Artsvik Minasyan received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Armenia H.E.Mr. Tian Erlong and Advisor on economic and commercial affairs of the Embassy Shitsay Van, the press-service of Armenian Economy Ministry reports.
Referring to the activities of the Armenian-Chinese commission on trade and economic issues held in Beijing in 2015, the Minister noted that the specific arrangements for the implementation of business projects have been achieved and it is time to fulfill them. In particular, reference was made to the construction of copper smelting plant, organization of building materials production, creation of joint Armenian-Chinese companies. For the implementation of those projects the Ambassador Erlong also noted the readiness of the state of supporting in the involvement of the private sector in such activities.
During the meeting the parties also discussed issues related to the tourism sector. Both sides emphasized that there is a great potential for bringing this sector to a higher level. The Economy Minister noted the importance of a study visit of the representatives of Chinese mass media to Armenia to make Armenia more recognizable to Chinese people. In his turn the Ambassador Erlong informed Artsvik Minasyan about the current year's major international conference on tourism to be held in China in mid-May, adding that the Chinese side will be happy to see the Minister of Economy of RA as a special guest of the event.
At the same time, talking about the importance of studying Chinese language for implementation of programs in Armenia, the Ambassador noted that in June the construction of the advanced school of Chinese language will launch in Yerevan.
According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, trade turnover between Armenia and China in Jan-Dec 2015 totaled 481.3 mln USD with 18.1% y-o-y decline; export dropped by 3.3% to 165.3 mln USD and import by 24.2% to 316 mln USD.
