According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, in Mar 2016, the nominal salary in the financial sector totaled 373.5 thousand drams increasing 7.3% year-on-year. The sector of information and telecommunications goes next with 366.3 thousand drams nominal salary (11.7% growth y-o-y). The mining industry goes the third withy 342.6 thousand drams nominal salary (5.5% growth y-o-y) and the energy sector goes the last with 259.5 thousand drams (15.9% growth y-o-y).
The highest nominal salaries were in Syunik region - 219.6 thousand drams in average (10.9% y-o-y growth). The capital city Yerevan goes the second with 196 thousand drams average nominal salary (4.6% y-o-y growth). The lowest indicator is in Ararat region - 149.3 thousand drams (7.2% y-o-y growth).
According to statistics, in Jan-Mar 2016, the salary at the government-run organizations totaled 158 thousand drams ($323), which is 2.3% more than for the same period of 2015. The salary at private organizations increased 6.5% to 214.7 thousand drams ($439.5). In Mar alone, the salaries at the budgetary and private organizations increased 0.6% and 4.6%, respectively. As compared to Mar 2015, these indicators increased 2% and 4.5%, respectively. A year ago, on Jan-Mar 2015, the salary at the government-run and private organizations increased 13.4% and 6.7% respectively and in March alone - 12.8% and 5.9% respectively.
In general, the nominal salary in Armenia in Jan-Mar 2016 totaled 181,667 drams ($372) with a 3.5% y-o-y growth and in Mar alone - 2.6%. In March 2016 versus March 2015, the nominal salary increased 3.4%. For comparison, in Jan-Mar 2015 this indicator grew 10.3% y-o-y (1.6% for Mar alone) and in Jan-Mar 2014 - it grew 6.6% y-o-y (1.1% in Mar alone).
The market exchange rate in Jan-Mar 2016 averaged 488.67AMD/1USD, in March alone - 486.33AMD/1USD, versus 477.26AMD/1USD in Q1 2015, and 477.65AMD/1USD in March 2015.
