ArmInfo. In the first half of 2016, 4,757 citizens (4.2% year-over-year growth) found jobs in Armenia, of which 2,359 were employed in Q2 2016. In June alone, this
indicator was 840 people (up 2.9% y-o-y) or 0.8% of the total number of job-seekers. As of July 1, there were 96.4 thousand job-seekers in Armenia (up 12.7% versus the same period of 2015).
The National Statistical Service of Armenia reports that by July 2016 the number of the registered unemployed citizens totaled 78.2 thousand (up 5.1% y-o-y), including 53.6 thousand women (up 2.3%) and 24.6 thousand men (up 11.8%).
Yerevan took the lead in terms of unemployment - 13.8 thousand citizens. Shirak, Lori and Kotayk provinces rank next - 13.6 thousand, 10.7 thousand, and 7.9 thousand.
By July 2016, there were 1985 vacancies (down 0.6%) - 49 people per vacancy (up 14%).
By the updated forecast of the Central Bank of Armenia (CBA), in 2016 unemployment will make up 18.3% (versus 18.1% forecasted for 2016), with further annual reduction by 0.2% in 2017-2018. In 2016, the wages will not be raised. Over the past three years, unemployment in Armenia grew from 16.2% to 18.5%: in 2015 - 18.5%, in 2014 - 17.6%, in 2013 - 16.2%.
