ArmInfo. By July 1, 2016, the deposits in the Armenian banks demonstrated a 14.2% year-over-year growth and totaled 2.010 trillion AMD ($4.2 bln).
The National Statistical Service of Armenia reports that AMD deposits grew by 54.8% to 680.3 bln AMD, while forex deposits rose by 14.4% to 1.330 trillion AMD. The share of forex deposits in the total amount of bank deposits traditionally prevails over the share of AMD deposits - 66.2% and 33.8%, respectively.
In the structure of deposits, the share of residents was 78.7% or 1.581 trillion AMD (17.8% year-over-year growth, and 3.3% quarterly growth), while the share of non-residents was 21.3% or 429 bln AMD (11% year-over-year growth, 4.6% quarterly decline).
In the structure of residents' deposits, the share of call deposits made up 28.3% or 448.3 bln AMD, and the share of time deposits was 71.7 % or 1.134 trillion AMD. The call deposits of the residents grew by 11.4% over year and by 0.4% in Q2 alone. The time deposits of the residents increased by 16.6% over year and by 1.3% in Q2 alone.
By July 2016, the household deposits in Armenian banks amounted to 1 048 671 bln AMD (13% year-over- year rise).
By July 2016, the average interest rates of AMD deposits were formed at 12.81% versus 14.85% a year before and 11.45% in the previous quarter (as of 30 June 2016, the AMD/USD exchange rate was 476.68 AMD/$1).
