ArmInfo. Engineering industry needs state assistance the most in Armenia, Head of the Union of Local Producers, economist Vazgen Safaryan stated at today's press conference answering to ArmInfo's correspondent's question.
"Engineering field is the keystone in real sector, while our engineering is in a sad condition", the expert noted. However, according to Safaryan Armenia has received a big order from Russia, as this industry was included in the sanctions list and import of engineering equipment from Ukraine, Germany and a number of other countries has been banned.
"We have received an order of 500 items from Rostekh, including both technologies and engineering products. In this context the Armenian government should strengthen cooperation with the Russian side in order to attract necessary resources", he noted.
Safaryan considers that for developing engineering sector it is necessary to draft a strategy, according to which the field will be able to get loans and produce necessary amount of products.
According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia the amount of production of machines and equipment in Jan-July 2016 totaled 1.8 bln drams, accelerating growth rates to 10.4% versus 4% growth a year ago.
