ArmInfo. Within the Eurasian  Economic Union (EEU), agriculture, wine and brandy making, light and  chemical industry, advanced processing of non-ferrous metals,  processing of precious stones and metals, Doctor of Economics,  Professor Ashot Tavadyan said at the Eurasian Export Club's meeting  on "Armenia in EEU and CSTO: Experience, Achievements, Prospects".

He stressed the need to find a niche in production of defense items,  nanotechnologies, machine building, and machine tool technologies.  "It is also necessary to clearly understand and appraise the  capacities and efficiency of the EEU member states' joining to the  Silk Road project. Armenia is a crossroad between the west and the  east and it has quite well-educated people, initiative labor force,  facilitated procedures of certification and business registration,  and a developed structure of information technology. Armenia is  experiencing rapid development of infrastructure, particularly, the  matter concerns the roads and transport.  The friendly diplomatic  relations with China, the positive diplomatic relations with the EU,  Iran, Georgia, the presence of a large Armenian community in Russia,  Europe, Iran and Georgia considerably increase the capacities of the  EEU Treaty to modernize Armenia's economy and industrial cooperation  with these countries," the expert said, noting that despite the huge  potential China does not hold leading positions among the investors  in Armenian economy.
