Armenian airports expect flights frequency increase

ArmInfo. Along with the growth in passenger traffic, number of airlines offering flights to Armenia, will increase the number of flights. The spokesman for the General Department of Civil Aviation (DGCA) Hovhannisian Satenik wrot this on her Facebook page. In particular, the Russian lowcoster "Victory" in March 2017 will carry out flight Moscow-Gyumri-Moscow four times a week (instead of the current three), the airline "Qatar Airways" plans daily flights on the route Doha- Yerevan-Doha. And in upcoming summer navigation season "Aegean Airlines" willlaunch Athens- Yerevan-Athens flight 6 times a week since March.

"The Iranian airlines also intend to increase the frequency of flights to Armenia in the summer season and especially during the celebration of the Iranian New Year -" Novruz "(in late March)," - said the GDCA spokesman.

Earlier it was reported that in January 2017 the passenger traffic grew by 22.9% in Yerevan International "Zvartnots" airport if compared to the same period last year, reaching 168,741 passengers.  The number of left through the "Shirak" airport in Gyumri increased by 103.8% in January 2017. In general, the growth of passenger traffic through the Yerevan "Zvartnots" and Gyumri "Shirak" amounted to 24.2% compared to January 2016. According to DGCA, on the basis of 2016 Yerevan International airport "Zvartnots" broke the historical record for the number of passengers carried, exceeding 2 million.  Similar heights "Zvarnots" airport registered in 1990.
