ArmInfo. Scientific "EKRA Caucasus" company will build a relaying manufacturer in Armenia. The memorandum on cooperation between the company and the Armenian Ministry of Economic Development and Investment was signed on February 21.
According to Ministry's press service, during the meeting with Armenian Minister of Economic Development and Investment Suren Karayan, the head of the company Arman Esayan noted that by the end of the year, 70 new jobs will be created in the framework of the project. The investment in the project will total over $1mln. The company attends to produce 250 relay layers yearly, which will be used in power industry. According to Arman Esayan, the investors are planning to enlarge the production volume in Armenia. The company's products will export to Russia and to Iran.
Suran Karayan, greeting the investment initiative, noted that as the result of the project the local product will replace the similar products from abroad in the power sector of the state. The Minister expressed hope that the scientific and technological potential of the republic will be used to carry out the project. The modernization of the power sector of Armenia is included in the memorandum.
Russian EKRA Research and Production Enterprise Ltd carry research and development activities, project execution, chef commissioning of equipment at the facility, training, warranty and after-sales service. The enterprise manufactures: microprocessor-based protective relaying and control cubicles for 6 - 1200 MW power stations and 6 - 750 kV substations; emergency control cubicles; Automatic Process Control for substations; operating DC voltage systems; 0.4 kV local distribution boards; non-standard low voltage complete devices; soft start and speed control systems for high-voltage electric motors with 3, 6, 10, 15 kV voltage; frequency transformers; digital static thyristor exciters; high-frequency communication cubicles.
"EKRA" Ltd is the parent company of the Group companies EKRA, combining regional dealerships and service centers which design and engineering organizations for operational interaction with customers and solve complex problems in the power from modification to delivery of power object in "turnkey".
To note, in Soviet times (1972), relay layer production was established in Armenia. But, as the Yerevan Relay factory Directo Viktor Eghiazaryan told ArmInfo, currently, the company is inactive, and its premises are rented. "With regard to the possibility of creating a new venture, no one has addressed us with such a proposal", noted the director of the company.
