Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister of Armenia Karen Karapetyan, the Armenian Government held a meeting, during which, in accordance to the instructions of the Prime Minister, the technical characteristics of the program for the implementation of the basic geoinformation system of the state was presented.
As the government's press service told ArmInfo, the State Property Committee made a proposal on the basis of the document to organize an international competition. The winner of the competition will be entrusted with a full technical development of geographic information system and its implementation, and technical control. It is also proposed to start the implementation process in Yerevan, and then empower the Committee's geoportal and create the opportunity for online monitoring of the system.
The authors who developed the characteristics are the State Committee of Real Estate Cadastre adjunct to the Armenian Government, on the basis of joint discussions with the concerned departments. As a result of the submission were presented a number of comments and suggestions, which will be discussed in the working group.
In the end, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of implementing the system and instructed the responsible for the scope to summarize the proposals stated during the meeting in a short term, and the results of the work represented in the government apparatus.
To note, on November 10, 2016, the Prime Minister of Armenia Karen Karapetyan instructed the State Committee of Real Estate Cadastre to submit proposals for facilitating information on infrastructure services through geographic information systems in a ten-day period. "In Armenia there must be created the possibility for any citizen or businessman check the status of all infrastructures - whether gas, electricity, water, etc., in a given region, where he is going to set up a business in online", said Karapetyan.
