ArmInfo. In 2017, the total investments in Armenian economy will amount to at least $850 mln, Armenian Minister of Economic Development and Investments Suren Karayan told reporters on March 16.
He said that some investment programs are already being implemented. In late Q1 2017 the Ministry will present the preliminary results of the ongoing investment programs.
On 12 Jan 2017 the minister said that Armenia will experience serious growth of economy, exports and investment activity. He added that the Government has revised the economic development model and focus on development based on the supply. "Given the small sizes of Armenia, we focus on economic development due to increasing exports," Karayan said. When speaking of the forecasts for 2017, the minister noted that the export growth rates registered in 2016 will be retained and even increased. He pointed out that economic activity will also grow in 2017.
To note, in Jan-Sept 2016 the direct foreign investments in Armenia amounted to $92 mln. For 2017, the Government forecasts 3.9% economic growth, and for 2018 and 2019 - 4% and 4.1% respectively. -n-
