Russia reduced natural gas supplies to Armenia in 2016 by 13.6%

ArmInfo. Russia in 2016 reduced the supply of natural gas to Armenia by 13.6% up to 1867080.4 thousand cubic meters, with a decrease in value by 32.2% to $ 288.6 million. At the same time, natural gas deliveries from Iran rose only by 0.3% to 367181.7 thousand cubic meters. With a decline in value by 15.4% to $ 58.5 million. As a result, according to the data of the Customs Service of Armenia, in 2016, 2234262.2 thousand cubic meters were imported to Armenia. Natural gas (with an annual decline by 14.9%) with a total value of $ 374.1 million (with an annual decline by 32.5%).

According to the source, deliveries of liquefied gas in 2016 decreased by 41.4% to 4,054 tons, with a decrease in customs value by 55.4% to $ 1.5 million. In particular, from the Russian Federation, liquefied gas amounted to 3,457 tons with annual growth of almost 10 times, with a similar increase in customs value up to $ 1.3 million.  From Iran, the supply of liquefied gas decreased by 91.8% to 361 tons with a drop in customs value by 93% to $ 153.6 thousand, and from Iraq by 89.2% and 90% respectively up to 235.9 tons for $ 110.2 thousand.

In the reporting year, the export of natural gas from Armenia in the amount of 24702 thousand cubic meters also figured. To $ 6.2 million, with an annual decline in volume and customs value by 79.6% and 75% respectively. And this volume was completely exported to Georgia.

In 2016, within the indicative balance, approved every year in accordance with the Armenian-Russian intergovernmental agreement of December 2, 2013, the volume of duty-free supplies of natural gas to Armenia from Russia is planned at 2.321.6 million cubic meters. And from other countries - about 399 million cubic meters. Iranian gas enters Armenia via a barter scheme - 1 cubic meter of natural gas in exchange for 3 kWh. Electricity sent from Yerevan TPP.
