ArmInfo. The economy of Armenia will not be able to digest investments in the amount of $ 15 billion, said Minister of Economic Development and Investments of Armenia Suren Karayan on March 30 after the meeting of the government, commenting on the statements of the participant of the pre-electoral race about readiness to invest $ 15 billion in Armenia.
According to Suren Karayan, within 1-3 years the Armenian economy will not be able to "digest" such amounts. At the same time, the head of the Ministry of Economy considers realistic the statements of the Prime Minister of Armenia on attracting investments of $ 3.2 billion, as he sees real projects and people ready to invest. "Only when we compare the three necessary conditions - the investment project, the source of financing and the presence of the person who implements it, I'm ready to call the programs realistic," Karayan said. According to Suren Karayan, the statements of the Prime Minister of Armenia on attracting investments of $ 3.2 billion are quite realistic.
As for investments, which were already attracted during the Karen Karapetyan government, as Karayan said, soon the National Statistical Service will publish information on investments.
Let's note that the leader of the Tsarukyan bloc Gagik Tsarukyan made a promise to attract investments in the economy of Armenia in the amount of $ 15 billion.
To note, in the first 9 months of 2016, foreign direct investments in Armenia amounted to only $ 92 million. Meanwhile, the government of the country in 2017 forecasts an economic growth by 3.9%, with an upward trend in 2018 and 2019 to 4% and 4.1% % respectively.
