Turkmenistan studies the opportunity to implement power supplies to Armenia through Iranian territory

ArmInfo. Tirkmenistan views  the option to implement power supplies to Armenia through Iranian  territory.

"Turkmenian powr energy supplies abroad assume cooperation with  neighbor countries - Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Afganistan, Iran, Turkey  and Armenia. Within the purpose of electric power export appropriate  arrangements are undertaken to construct  an overhead (aerial) line  with 500-400 kV voltage to Mari-Seraskh -Meshxed (Iran). A 400 kV  power transmission line is planned to be mounted to Balkanabat-  Gonbad (Iran) as well. "The aerial lines construction will give an  option to implement energy export projects in respect to Iran by  transit through Iranian energy system, " the  EnergyLand.info message  reads.

To mention, the option of  Turkmenian power export to Armenia through  Iranian energy framework is being discussed pretty long time. Yet in  late 1990th this project was supported by Karen Karapetyan, at that  time the director of Armenergo ( currently the prime Minister of the  Republic of Armenia). But the project did not succeed at that time  due to technical reasons.
