ArmInfo. Nowadays there are about 80mln bee families in "hives" in the world. In Armenia, according to information presented to ArmInfo by Agriculture Ministry, the number of hives counts to 237 230, which average productiveness gives 12-15kg honey. Armenia produces qualified polypheric honey, which works thanks to land shaft-climatic features of the region, particularly for the abundance of diverse vegetation in mountain locations. However, the main issue of world's honey craft remains the quality of honey- percent of false honey in the world is 50, when in Armenia for the recent years, according to Agriculture Ministry information, there were not registered any problems related to honey quality, and there is no request on fake exposure.
"I don't want Honey House to be called shop. This is not shop. This is a place where Armenian honey is being displayed to be judged", Arsen Sirekanyan, Honey House owner, located in Khorenatsi street Yerevan, started a conversation with ArmInfo's reporter. What is interesting Armenian honey is being estimated more by tourists, than by country nationals.
Though Armenian honey market is rich enough, and occupies different types (from the point of taste, quality and price), including up market, organic, woodsy, wild, shill, buckwheat, chestnut and others, however worldwide community only speaks on Yemeni honey, average market price forms about $300 per kg, when Armenian organic exceeds it with quality. " Current market is not ready to this kind of high estimates yet. Here, generally, honey is being bought according to their financial capabilities", he noted.
