As a result, the AMD for the reporting week changed the mood towards the USD from devaluation to strengthening - from 486 to 484.5 AMD/USD1, becoming weaker to the EUR - from 517 to 518 AMD/EUR1, while revaluating to the RUR - from 8.7 to 8.6 AMD/RUR1. A year earlier, for April 1-21, 2016, the AMD strengthened to the USD from 481 to 479.5 AMD/USD1 and to the EUR - from 544 to 542 AMD/EUR1, while devaluing to the RUR - from 7.1 to 7.5 AMD/RUR1, which in comparison with current rates indicates the annual devaluation of the AMD against the USD and the RUR, with the revaluation to the EUR.
As the press service of the Central Bank of Armenia told ArmInfo, on April 17-21, transactions in the amount of $ 6.8 million at the weighted average rate of 485.18 AMD/USD1 (against the previous 486.40) were performed at the currency interbank market. Currency interbank increased its volume in the first half of the week with the release to a maximum on Wednesday - $ 2.5 million, but on Thursday the decline fell and the week closed on the doorstep of $ 800 thousand. In parallel, in the intrabank foreign exchange market for the reporting week, the volume of purchase/sale of USD slowed growth from 33.2-3.3% to 4.5- 8.7%, for EUR operations - the 8.8-0.1% decline was replaced in buying up by 6.7% growth while in sales the recession accelerated to 10%, on the background of which RUR buying from a 0.03% decline came in at 14% growth, and sales slowed the growth from 22% to 2.6%. As a result, $ 75.9 million was purchased at the average exchange rate of 484.48 AMD/SUD1, 11.1 million EUR at the average rate of 516.44 AMD/EUR1 and 877.8 million RUR. At an average rate of 8.59 AMD/RUR1, and sold $ 81.3 million at an average rate of 485.89 AMD/USD1, 10.8 million EUR at an average rate of 520.15 AMD/EUR1 and 425.4 million RUR at the average rate of 8.68 AMD/RUR1.
