ArmInfo. Mobile operators of Armenia - "VivaCell-MTS", "ArmenTel" and "Ucom" promise to stop the artificial increase in prices for cards replenishment of the balance on the secondary market.
As the press service of the State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition (SCPEC), the regulator conducted a market study based on complaints received regarding the increase in the prices of the cards for replenishment of the balance sheet. Based on the results of the inspections, the SCPEC requested clarifications from three mobile communication operators of Armenia. "Analyzing the received information, it was found out that the implementation of VivaCell-MTS, ArmenTel and Ucom recharge cards is carried out with the help of intermediaries who in turn resell the cards, thereby extracting a certain benefit for themselves," the Department?s report reads.
In addition, mobile operators informed that since the beginning of the year, prices for intermediary services have been reduced: VivaCell-MTS 2.5 times, Ucom - 3, and ArmenTel - 2%.
The Commission considers the issue to be settled, as it was found out, that cards can be freely purchased both in the offices of companies, and online and without any overpayment. At the same time, at the discussions organized in the SCPEC, mobile operators expressed their readiness to control the market in the most possible way, and in some cases - to cancel agreements with those intermediaries who will sell cards at a price exceeding its nominal value.
