ArmInfo. The new power unit being built at the Yerevan TPS is to replace the capacity of the third power unit of the Hrazdan TPS. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources Hayk Harutyunyan on April 28, responding to the question of ArmInfo.
According to him, in 2018, the Hrazdan Thermal Power Station will cease operation due to the deterioration of the main equipment. With the construction of a new modern unit at the Yerevan TPS, the issue of capacity replacement will be resolved. Depending on the requirements of the market, it will be clear how much electricity from the new unit will be supplied to the domestic market, and how much - for export. As for the further fate of the Hrazdan Thermal Power Station, the Deputy Minister notes that its owner is interested in investing in the reconstruction of the thermal power plant.
To note, the Italian company Renco will invest about $ 250 million to build the second power unit of the Yerevan thermal power station with a capacity of 250 mW. Completion of construction works is scheduled for 25 months. The program will create about 900 temporary jobs, and from the time of operation - 200 permanent and highly paid. The state is obliged within 20 years to purchase all the electricity produced by the unit at a price of 6 US cents excluding VAT. The company "Liormand Holdings Limited", which is a 100% shareholder of the "Hrazdan Energy Organization" (the owner of the Hrazdan Thermal Power Plant) applied with a statement of intent to sell all 100% of its shares of the Tashir Capital Station.
