ArmInfo. Customs services of Armenia and Iran are entering new level of cooperation. On April 26-27, the Delegation of State Revanue Committee of Armenia headed by the Chairman of the Department Vardan Harutyunyan and the Head of the Customs Service of Iran Masoud Karbasiani in Tehran discussed steps in this direction. The press service of Armenian Foreign Ministry reports.
At the meeting, the parties noted that increasing the level of cooperation between the services will help increase the turnover, increase transit cargo transportation, and develop tourism.
Masoud Karbasiani noted the importance of using the Persian Gulf-Black Sea transport corridor, which was mentioned in the joint statement of the Armenian and Iranian Presidents Serzh Sargsyan and Hasan Roukhani on December 21, 2016. Vardan Harutyunyan expressed satisfaction with the fact that Iranian side got to solve the problems in connection with the organization of free transportation of vehicles with Armenian state numbers through the Customs border of the IRI.
Following the meeting, Vardan Harutyunyan and Masoud Karbasiani signed a protocol on the exchange of customs statistic information between the parties.
To remind, as early as November 17, 2016, the Armenian SRC and the IRI Customs Service in Yerevan signed a Memorandum of Understanding providing for the exchange of information in real mode between the Meghri (Armenia) and Norduz (Iran) customs points. At the same time, the customs officials agreed to ensure the free movement of passenger cars with the cancellation of road and guarantee payments from the cars of the two countries crossing the common border.
