ArmInfo. Armenian Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan met Saint Petersburg Governor Georgiy Poltavchenko, who is in Yerevan within the framework of Saint Petersburg Days in Yerevan.
According to the Government's press-service, during the meeting Karen Karapetyan stressed the importance of Armenian-Russian decentralized cooperation. He stressed that there is a big potential in this very direction. The Premier stressed the need to use all the platforms to extend regional economic relations, including the turnover increase, tourist visits growth, etc. He greeted passing Saint-Petersburg days in Yerevan, and Armenian Days in Russian northern capital, which is one more way to strengthen bilateral relations.
Expressing gratitude for the reception, the Governor of St. Petersburg said that during the recent years, as a result of active cooperation, the extents of bilateral trade turnover have increased. Work in this direction is being carried out within the framework of the approved events program. Georgiy Poltavchenko noted that the goods and products produced in Armenia have great requirement in St. Petersburg. He added that the trade house "Yerevan" construction in the city will promote these products and goods extents' increase. According to Georgiy Poltavchenko, Yerevan and St. Petersburg consistently implement steps in such cooperation areas as healthcare, agriculture, tourism, culture, and the humanities. He stressed that among the businessmen of St. Petersburg, the interest shown to investments in the Armenian economy is obvious, expressing readiness to consider various projects and proposals.
Karen Karapetyan greeted bilateral steps on implementation of joint programs, and added that Armenian Government is ready to support the implementation of different projects. The Head of the Government stressed that Saint-Petersburg's investments in Armenia may be considered as a chance to enter Iranian market as well, which platform could be free trade zone being created in Meghri.
