ArmInfo. Representatives of 17 Israeli tour operators arrived in Armenia on a three-day familiarization visit. This was reported by the press service of the State Committee for Tourism.
According to the source, on June 2 the guests held meetings with the tourist operators of Armenia. The honorary consul of Israel in Yerevan Ashot Shahmuradyan also attended the meeting. In her opening remarks, the head of the State Committee for Tourism Zarmine Zeituntsyan stressed the importance of cooperation between Armenia and Israel in the sphere of tourism. According to her, the activation of mutual tourist flow will have a positive impact not only on the economies of the two countries, but will also allow for the initiation of intercultural dialogue between the two peoples, and will strengthen friendly ties.
During the meeting, issues related to the further strengthening of cooperation between Armenia and Israel in the tourism sphere were discussed. The sides exchanged the necessary information in order to enhance bilateral cooperation in the future. The visit of 17 tour operators in Israel was organized by the "Armenia" airline.
To recall, the first flight of the airline "Armenia" to Tel Aviv was held on May 17. Regular flights are carried out twice a week - on Thursdays and Sundays.
According to the National Statistical Service, in January-May 2017, 1 298 533 tourists arrived in Armenia, which is 18.2% higher than in the same period of 2016. According to the source, in January-March 2017, the number of citizens who left Armenia for tourist purposes was 1,266,324 people. Compared to the same period in 2016, this indicator grew by 17.1%. During the reporting period, 26.1% of tourists who visited Armenia were in the CIS countries, 14.2% in the EU countries, 59.7% in other countries.
