In the loan portfolio of the Armenian banking system, by May 2017, the lion's share falls to the currency component - 63% or 1.447 trillion AMD, having increased by 9.6% year-on-year, without taking into account prolonged and overdue loans. The share of AMD loans is 37% or 850.6 billion AMD, with an annual growth of 27.8%.
According to the Central Bank of Armenia data, provided by National Statistical Service of the Republic of Armenia to ArmInfo, the total volume of bank lending increased by May 2017. At 14.2% per annum, amounting to 2.449 trillion AMD. Without taking into account the prolonged and overdue loans, the loan investments of the banking system of Armenia increased by 15.7% in annual terms, amounting to 2.298 trillion AMD.
The share of prolonged and overdue loans by May 2017 was 4.74% (against 5.19% a year earlier) and 1.41% (against 2.16% a year earlier), respectively. On an annual basis, the volume of overdue loans in Armenian banks decreased by 25.5% to 34.5 billion AMD, while the prolonged increase by 4.4% to 116.2 billion AMD.
According to statistics, the average interest rate on AMD loans by May 2017 was formed at the level of 15.18% (against 17.94% a year earlier). The calculated exchange rate of the AMD to the USD on 28.04.17 was 484.68 AMD/USD1.
