ArmInfo. The customer base of Armenia's banking system totaled 2,343,225 individuals and 77,956 legal entities by April 2017. According to the Central Bank's data provided by the National Statistical Service of Armenia, a total of 2,421,181 customers had 4,355,612 accounts with Armenian banks, of which 4,196,171 were physical accounts and 159,441 were accounts of legal entities.
According to the source, in the annual analysis, the customer base of Armenian banks increased by 1.9% or 44 016 customers. At the same time, the number of accounts in banks in the annual section increased by 0.3%.
To note, four banks - ProCredit and BTA (in December 2015), Areximbank-Gazprombank Group and Armenian Development Bank (in December 2016) came out of the Armenian banking market in 2015- 2016, having united with INECOBANK, Armeconombank, Ardshinbank and Araratbank, respectively. As a result, by 2017 there are 17 banks in Armenia.
