ArmInfo. The metallurgy industry of Armenia in the first half of 2017 reached a 7.1% growth from the 6.7% decline in the same period in 2016. According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, in the first half-year the production of ferromolybdenum in Armenia increased by 19% per annum, amounting to 3 446 tons, against the decline of 8.7% a year earlier. Only in June ferromolybdenum was produced 455 tons, which is 17.6% less than the May volume.
In the first half of the year, the production of molybdenum concentrate increased by 6.9% per annum - to 5,614 tons, against the decline of 7.9% a year earlier. Only in June production decreased by 40.1% - up to 732 tons. The production of converter (rough) copper declined by 5.8% year-on-year to 5,955 tons (against 30.9% growth a year earlier), with a monthly growth of 0.3% to 1005 tons. The production of copper concentrate increased by 6.9% - to 205.9 thousand tons, against growth of 31% a year earlier. On a monthly basis, copper concentrate production decreased 8.5% to 33.3 thousand tonnes. The production of zinc concentrate increased during the reporting period by 29.5% per annum - up to 4 569 tons, against the 48.7% decline the year before. In June, the production of zinc concentrate increased by 9% to 899 tons.
Production of aluminum foil over the reporting period increased by 5.2% per annum - up to 15,784 tons, against the 2.1% decline a year earlier. In June, aluminum foil production decreased by 5.2% to 2,845 tons. The production of aluminum rolled products during the reporting period amounted to 444 tons with an annual growth of 148 times, against a decline of 70% a year earlier. Only in June the volume of aluminum rolled steel production decreased by 1.3% to 157 tons.
The production of steel pipes in the reporting period increased by 65.4% per annum - to 4,706 tons (against a decline of 46.3% a year earlier), but only in June it was recorded a 2.8-fold increase to 2,504 tons.
Data on the production of molybdenum briquettes in the statistics of the reporting period are absent, while a year earlier in the same period the volume was 367 tons.
All metals produced in Armenia are exported, mainly to Europe and the USA.
In 2016 the metallurgy industry of Armenia reduced production by 11.1% per annum, against a 0.5% decline in 2015. In particular, the production of molybdenum briquettes was reduced by 50.9%, aluminum rolled products by 47.7%, steel pipes by 22.6%, zinc concentrate by 30.3% and aluminum foil by 2.1%, while In 2016, growth was recorded in the production of ferromolybdenum - by 16.9%, convertor (rough) copper - by 11.4%, copper concentrate - by 23.1%, and molybdenum concentrate by 2.1%.
