ArmInfo. Minister of Economic Development and Investments of the Republic of Armenia Suren Karayan on the eve of the first deputy minister of industry and trade of the Russian Federation Gleb Nikitin in Yerevan discussed prospects of cooperation between Russia and Armenia in the sphere of industry.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Armenia, Gleb Nikitin stressed that cooperation with the Armenian side is among the priorities of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade. The parties discussed the implementation of agreements on the provision of agricultural machinery. Suren Karayan noted the high potential of cooperation in the field of radio electronics, stressing the importance of implementing steps in this direction.
The parties also discussed prospects for cooperation in light industry. According to Nikitin, the establishment of joint ventures and the organization of export of products to third countries will be promising in this direction. To this end, the parties agreed to contribute to the development of a dialogue between entrepreneurs of the two countries. Minister Karayan presented to Nikitin the prospects created in FEZ Meghri. According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, the foreign trade turnover between Armenia and Russia grew by 23.7% per annum in the first half of 2017 to $ 737.5 million. This was provoked by the export growth of 27.3% - up to $ 219.3 million and import by 22.3% $ 518.2 million
