Stressing the effectiveness of agricultural programs implemented in Armenia with the assistance of the Bank, the Armenian Minister wished successes to the new head of the World Bank office. He expressed confidence that during the period of its mission the framework of bilateral cooperation will expand, and joint programs will become a pledge of further development of relations between the World Bank and Armenia.
The minister presented the guests with new programs in the field of agriculture, which are aimed at providing farmers with working capital, and peasant farms with affordable financing.
In turn, Mercy Tembon noted that since the moment of Armenia's gaining its independence in the field of agriculture of the republic, positive tendencies towards progress have been outlined, and the World Bank is ready to assist in the implementation of joint programs to consolidate these indicators. Armenia, which since 1992 is a member of the World Bank, and since 1993 - the International Development Association, loans and grants totaling $ 2.3 billion were provided. For the development of agriculture, the structure in 2016 provided the republic with $ 30 million for the development of rural cooperatives, and in 2014 the WB allocated $ 32.7 million to the country for the implementation of the project "Development of agricultural resources and competitiveness." Under the program it is planned to improve the condition of pastures and conditions of cattle breeding in 100 rural communities of 8 regions of Armenia.
