As the press service of the Armenian government reports, the sides touched upon the implementation of the provisions of the framework agreement concluded on March 23 this year. in Yerevan between the Government of Armenia and the company "Renko", which are related to the construction of a new thermal power plant on the territory adjacent to the Yerevan TPP.
Giovanni Roubini noted with satisfaction that all work is carried out in accordance with the schedule.
Karen Karapetyan noted the importance of this program worth $ 280 million, noting that it is of great importance in terms of replenishing the energy system of Armenia with modern and efficient power generation.
The Armenian government approved in March the signing of a framework agreement on the design, development, financing, construction, ownership and operation of the combined-cycle power plant in Yerevan. As the Minister of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources of Armenia Ashot Manukyan noted, the construction of the unit is aimed at covering the shortage of reactive power that other stations can not cover.
"Investments in the construction of a 250 MW power plant will amount to $ 250 million. It is planned that construction work will last 26 months and finish in the second half of 2019," he said. It is planned that 900 temporary jobs will be created during the construction period, and after putting the station into operation, about 200 permanent and highly paid jobs. The service life and maintenance of the station is 20 years.
According to the Minister, in 2019 it is also planned to complete the construction of a second high-voltage power line to Iran and a similar line to Georgia, which will lead to an increase in electricity exports from Armenia. On March 20, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan participated in the ceremony of laying the capsule for the construction of a new TPP, which will be located near the existing Yerevan Thermal Power Plant and implemented by the company "Renko".
