ArmInfo. Armenian-Iranian forum "Nanoscience and Technologies" will be held in Armenia September 22-23. Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Investments of Armenia Emil Tarasyan stated this during a press conference on September 20. According to the deputy head of the department, within the framework of the forum Armenia will present its technological developments used for cleaning the water system, fertilizer production; new technologies used in pharmaceutics; the development of a synthetic sapphire used in optical engineering, microelectronics, industrial engineering, etc. "The sphere of nanotechnologies is one of the key areas of cooperation with Iran, and the theoretical developments of Armenia are of interest to the Iranian side," E. Tarasyan stressed.
For its part, the Iranian side will acquaint with the technologies for the creation of nanofilters used for purification of drinking water from heavy metals and nitrates, as well as anti-cancer therapeutic nanotechnologies, etc., which are successfully implemented both on the domestic and foreign markets.
The forum, according to E.Tarasyan, has already gathered more than 100 participants, including students, business representatives, theorists and others. "The forum will serve as an excellent platform for dialogue between business and science," the deputy minister stressed.
He noted that the use of nanotechnology will increase the efficiency of production, quality and volume of manufactured goods, but with a lower cost, and will also contribute to the creation of new directions in engineering. At the same time, E.Tarasyan did not rule out the creation of joint production with Iran in the future.
The forum will be held within the framework of the GIZ program "Assistance to small and medium-sized enterprises of Armenia" (SMEDA) with co-financing of the EU. On the first day of the event, discussions will be held on issues and projects related to innovative technologies, as well as scientific presentations. On the second day, Armenian and Iranian companies will present their products, equipment, share their experience, and discuss possible areas of cooperation.
