ArmInfo. In Armenia, work began on inventory, mapping and digitization of 3441 km of roads to create a system for managing road assets. 1,231 km of them have already passed the inventory and mapping. This was announced by the Minister of Transport, Communications and IT of Armenia Vahan Martirosyan on September 26 at a press conference.
According to the minister, on the roads an electronic system was introduced, which allows for online monitoring of the machinery servicing the roads. Thanks to this, as the minister noted, last winter we managed to control the quality of the cleaning equipment on the roads. At the same time, as the head of the Ministry of Transport informed, the maps of Armenian roads are already included in the database of cartographic service "Google Maps", negotiations are being conducted towards their implementation and into the "GIS" system.
In order to improve the quality of capital repair programs implemented with the state budget, in accordance with the new policy of the Ministry, the guarantee period specified in the contracts is extended from 5 years for the current 1-2 years (3 years for a bank guarantee, 2 for a contract). This, according to Martirosyan, increases the responsibility of the construction company, which will affect the quality of the works. In addition, in order to ensure the safety of roads with private sector funds, over 1,000 road signs and signposts have been installed on the road section of M-4 to Dilijan, in accordance with international and European standards.
In the process of establishing additional metal limiters on the roads with a length of 8500 m, the Minister also said that to improve road safety, the EU recently approved granting $ 5 million - this involves the establishment of limiters and road signs, as well as the repair of particularly dangerous sections of the road.
