Governor of Syunik: Kapan Airport will resume work in 2018

ArmInfo. On October 4, the Armenian side signed an agreement with one of the Czech airlines to purchase an L-41 aircraft, which will fly from Kapan airport after its operation. This was told in a conversation with journalists by the governor of Syunik, Vahe Hakobyan. 

The aircraft costs 5.5 million euros and has 19 seats.

At the same time, Hakobyan stressed that the final cost of tickets has not yet been determined, but according to preliminary estimates, they will cost 30-40 thousand drams. "There will be subsidized tickets for students, people with health problems, so that they can immediately fly to Yerevan," the governor of Syunik said.

He noted that at the end of the first half of 2017 repair work began at Syunik airport, repairs cost $ 2 million. "We should facilitate the possibility of traveling to the region, so we we activate life in Syunik. We attach great hopes to this, "Vahe Hakobyan concluded.

At the same time, Vahe Hakobyan noted that a plant will be opened in Kapan production of Italian pizza.  Semi-finished Italian pizza will be prepared from locally produced products and the preference will be given to manufacturers from Syunik. "The operation of the plant will create 50 jobs for the residents of Kapan ", - said Syunik Governor. In Kapan, the will also open.

This, according to governor, will greatly contribute to attracting the flow of Iranian tourists. It should be noted that after the 27-year break on July 8 in the city of Kapan, Syunik region of Armenia, the first plane made an experimental landing. During the year it was planned that the airport itself will be completely reconstructed and will work in full force by the fall of next year. Pilot flight was made by the Russian pilot Simon Myaian, invited by local authorities, who made the way from Russia to Yerevan, and from there Kapan. As part of the work to restart the Syunik airport, the construction of the air harbor building was started.
