ArmInfo. Russia delivered a modern high-class electric train ЭП2Д to Armenia. To familiarize himself with the technical capabilities of the new and high-class electric train, on 17 October RA Minister of Transport, Communication and Information Technologies Vahan Martirosyan visited the locomotive depot.
As the press service of the Armenian Ministry of Transport informs, the potential of the electric train to the minister was presented by Sergey Valko, Director General of the South Caucasus Railways. It is reported that the train is comfortable for everyone, including for passengers with disabilities - with problems of the musculoskeletal system. It is equipped with a lift, so that passengers moving in wheelchairs, can comfortably go up to the wagons and exit them. The electric train is also equipped with elevators. With their help, passengers moving by carriages can climb and descend from the carriages.
The new electric train, consisting of two cars, has 129 seats, is equipped with comfortable seats, is equipped with a ventilation system, filtration, fire extinguishing, emergency exit windows, information screens.
At present, the electric train passes the testing stage, during which the technical condition will be checked taking into account the topography of Armenia, as well as the possibilities of infrastructures. Retraining will also be held by the machinists. After that, it will be decided, the electric train with how many seats and cars is needed for Armenia. It is assumed that the said rolling stock will be commissioned in early 2018. "The high-class electric train was brought to Armenia in accordance with the agreement reached during the meeting of the Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan with the leadership of JSC Russian Railways," the Ministry of Transport statement reads.
